(#kcinterview) CYBC

CountYourBlessings is a small urban clothing line created by 3entrepreneur's in London promoting a good message and creating the latest in fashionable garments.

How was Count Your Blessings started?
3 years ago, Aslam and Mussa met up for the first time and had a discussion. Mussa had lots of ideas and designs and they worked on putting them together. They produced their first batch of products and received a lot of positive feedback and then realised they had a good concept. At this stage Aslam was working full time and Mussa was focusing on his studies so the label was put on hold for a while. In 2012, they realised that they wanted to pursue Count Your Blessings Clothing on a more serious level. They reached out to Kai for him to become a member of the team and since then the label has been going on strong.

Who makes up the Count Your Blessings team?
Mussa is 17, originally from Rwanda, Aslam is 19, and Kai 19. They are all based in Harrow.

How did you three think of the name for the clothing label?
We believed that the name “Count Your Blessings” had a positive meaning and possessed a much deeper meaning which a wide range of people could relate to. The name has many positive connotations and can provide inspiration and let people just count their blessings.

The t-shirt will be coming in white soon.

Did it take you long to start the line after you thought of the initial idea?
Yes it took a bit of time to bring life to the ideas we had, but it's safe to say that we're here now and ready to relay positive messages through our label.

Away from  the three of you is there anyone else that helps you before we see the end product?
Mussa is the main designer; he has outstanding Art & Design skills. Aslam & Kai focus more on the business aspects of the label. We also get help from Nass as he helps organise photoshoots and helps with sales and promotion side of things.

What sets you apart from other clothing labels?
The main things that set us apart from other labels is that all of our ideas are original. All of out designs we make ourselves and are to a very high quality as a lot of time and effort is put into every design and product we launch. Another one of our aims is to appeal to a wide audience, whether it be different cultures, age groups and genders.

When designing something new do you have a common theme that runs through several designs or is each product inspired by something new?
Everything we create is inspired by something new. To be hones it depends what type of mood we’re in at the time.

CYBC FITTED RED HOODIE >>>
The hoodie comes in black, navy, red and grey.

How would you each explain your personal style?
We all have our own different personal styles. Aslam has his own type of style, trendy and more fitted, up market and stylish. He spends forever on his hair and likes to be called the “Asian David Beckham”. Mussa also has his own style he prefers more colourful garments, likes African patterns, but still is also very trendy and stylish and he has a good eye for new designs. Kai also has his own style but it’s hard to pinpoint it. However, rumour has it that he is the most attractive member of the team.

What advice would you give someone who wants to start their own label?
Don’t do it because you can’t beat CYBC!!! On a serious note now, it’s harder than it looks you need to put your all in, create a team so it will spread the work rate. Just make sure you have more than one idea before you start.

Is there anyone who inspires you or influences your designs?
Brands that inspire us are; Armani, Diesel and Vivienne Westwood. To be honest with you we are inspired by what we see on a daily basis and the clothing that we wear.

You can keep up to date with CYBC's new products  and follow their progress on their bigcartel site, twitter , instagram and facebook.
