(#kcinterview) DR Kaos

Being around a lot of creative people everyday made me realise over time how integrated music and fashion is. From music videos to catwalks DJs and fashion designers work closely together all the time. The best thing about increasing my social circle is that I get to meet new and upcoming 'creatives' regularly.

DR Kaos, DJ Danny D and RawTrouble HD is a new DJ collaboration that has recently combined their talents to bring you the newest music from the Caribbean with a UK twist.

If you want to learn more about the brains behind DR Kaos continue reading.

Why did you choose the name 'DR Kaos'?
Originally we started off with the name Island Fusion but due to various things already having that name we realised we needed to find a new name. A couple friends of ours helped us to initially to come up with a name and then one of them came out with DR Kaos and it just clicked. 'DR' is the 1st initial of both of our DJ names and 'Kaos' comes from the atmosphere which we create when we play together.

After knowing each other for 8 months why have you now chosen to combine your talents?
I'd say it's 50% for the love of music and 50% is for the vibe of each other. We have worked well together previously and we also have the same goal in mind to achieve.

Whats the best thing about being able to work with another person rather than working alone?
Being able to work with another person is good because it allows you to share knowledge with each other for songs that work well together. You can also work on remixes too and get second opinions which always helps. Sometimes you can get distracted by others when djing, so having another person to work with when the conversations do happen makes sure they remain constructive rather than distracting. As both of us have the same objective we can contribute differently in a way that works together so that we push each other to be bigger and better.

Who/what inspired you to be better and push yourself further?
DJ DannyD: When I go to parties and there are DJs that can't get the vibe right and then when I hear what the people want, I think that I'm capable of that! My main inspirations are DTee, DJ Tate, Mike Forbes and Trevor Davis.
RawTrouble HD: I gain inspiration from different things hence why I can't base it in one person. If I did have to name a few I would say DTee, QT2Hype, DJ Jazzy Jeff and DJ Craze.

How would you describe your personal style?
DJ Danny D: I like being really casual and comfortable to be honest. A pair of jeans, a tshirt and some trainers do me nicely. I do like buying exclusive trainers though to wear on special occasions but other than that I'm pretty simple.
RawTrouble HD: I wear tshirts mainly but depending on where I'm going I might throw on a shirt paired with jeans or chinos. Vans, Nike and Adidas are normally my choice of brands for footwear but I do like to mix it up a bit with a few designer brands.

What can we expect to hear from you in the future?
You can expect to hear about us more and more as we continue to play out and make mixes. We will be making new mixes regularly for the public to download which will include a wide variety of music genres. Also we will be creating exclusive remixes for our mixes and when we play out at many different events.

Keep updated with DR Kaos by following them on twitter.

(#kcwishlist) Can I have some Jelly & Cream please?

At the beginning of the month one of my friends from work had this exact hat on (image on the left). It made me think of the post I had done previously in August called Jelly & Cream. Take a look if you haven't already!

Gradually wanting to come out of my comfort zone I may have combined an outfit to go with it differently but for now I would wear it with maybe a sweater, shorts, possibly knee high socks and if I couldn't find any footwear I liked that went with it I would wear tights with hightops.

(#kcwishlist) The Classic Designer

As the Cambridge Satchel Company has recently launched its men's range that features 75 new styles and sizes. It really made me want to visit the new Covent Garden store on Shorts Gardens and get either a classic satchel or a designer satchel. Hopefully when I actually get there I won't get too excited and buy both but for now it's one or the other.

The thing that made me really interested about the Cambridge Satchel Company was the Julie Deane feature on the Google Chrome advert. It really lit the spark to my entrepreneurial candle that is always with me! It's amazing how she went from spending hardly any money, to having a highly successful business.

(#kcmoviereview) Bruno

When I typed in 'Fashion films' on the Google this was one of the films that came up. From the name and my preassumptions I didn't think that Bruno was anywhere near a fashion film but I decided to watched the whole thing to find out.

As soon as the film started I really didn't know what I was getting myself in to but I started watching it with no judgement except for the fact that I wanted it to have some educational reference to fashion.

Some parts of the film was a bit awkward but I think that was just due to the nature of the film and the character that Sacha Baron Cohen had to play.

Throughout the film he is constantly making jokes about the fashion industry but in the midst of all that you do see familiar fashion faces when he goes to the catwalk.

About 15 minutes into the film I was actually quiet scared about what was left to come throughout the rest of the film. Maybe it wasn't what was looking for? Then again it does show the reality of some parts of the fashion industry.

I guess any career path can make you or break you. Especially the fashion industry!

'Give love to other people you get love back' - Paula Abdul

There is a bit of nudity so if you're not comfortable with that prepare yourself or don't watch it. Some parts of the film had me a little confused on why it was orignally made. The obsession with wanting to be world famous I think may have taken away the real message of the story even though I'm not sure what it was in the first place.

On Bruno's behalf it is nice to have people or a certain person that is fully behind you and believes that you are something, even if you don't see yourself as something.

As a whole, the film wasn't really what I was expecting I thought it was going to have some educational meaning that brings the whole film together. I would say the song that ends the film had a good message throughout but you have to listen hard to catch the odd few lines that are very positive and charitable.

If you're looking for a 'fashion film' unfortunately I don't think this film is for you.

(#kcstyle) Everyday can be dress up day!

I'm going back to college on Monday and I was thinking about those random days during the week where I used to go out of my way in the morning to make myself feel and look better than normal. Maybe if we all did that everyday we could feel better about ourselves and more confident because if you look good and feel good then I think that's one of the best combinations in the world.

(#kcupdate) New Years Honours List!

Three days into the New Year and I've already learnt something new. I've always known that people got honoured every now and again but I never knew that there was a list that came out at the beginning of the year that listed them and why. I decided to research some of the people I have heard of that have been honoured for their creative work.

Quentin Blake CBE was given a Knighthood for his illustration work. As soon as I saw his work I knew I had seen it in the Roald Dahl books I have read when I was younger.

Tracey Emin was awarded a CBE for her artwork. Studying creative art related subjects since 2005 I'm very familiar with Tracey Emin's textile work and I like how a message is told through her outcomes. One of her pieces of work that stood out to me the most was a bag that was displayed in the V&A Museum, London.

Stella McCartney has been awarded an OBE for her services to Fashion. The whole world has seen Stella McCartney's work at the recent Olympics in London. It enabled the UK to stand out amongst the crowd and be proud to be British!

Take a look at the full list on the direct.gov.uk website.

(#klosetcloset) New Year! New Resolutions?

I just want to say a huge Happy New Year to all my dedicated viewers. I was hoping to upload a post yesterday but as it was New Years Eve that obviously didn't happen but here we are the first KlosetCloset post for the year!!!

If you've made any resolutions for this year that you want to share I'll be happy to read them. Even though I'm never one to keep to new years resolutions thats why I don't religiously make them but I do hope to reach some personal goals in this year. Keep your eyes pealed you might see some of my goals being completed in the near future.

On that note this year go out of your way to make sure you do things that make you happy!!!
